Casio Men's PAW1300-3V Pathfinder Multi-Band Solar Atomic Green Watch

Featuring tough solar power, multi-band atomic timekeeping, and a digital compass, they don’t call this watch the Pathfinder for nothing. This slim men’s watch design from Casio features resin construction, including a 47.4-millimeter case and forest green band. The light green-gray dial has a digital time display and a day and date calendar. Powered by digital quartz, the Pathfinder is also water resistant to 330 feet.

The Casio Story

With the launch of its first watch in November 1974, Casio entered the wristwatch market at a time when the watch industry had just discovered digital technology. As a company with cutting-edge electronic technology developed for pocket calculators, Casio entered this field confident that it could develop timepieces that would lead the market. In developing its own wristwatches Casio began with the basic question, “What is a wristwatch?” Rather than simply making a digital version of the conventional mechanical wa (more…)

When I reviewed the Casio Pathfinder PAW1200 about a year ago, I Referred to it as “one of the MOST advanced digital timepieces in the world”. Of course, it est également one of the biggest. The new PAW1300 takes all the features Sami and Technology of the PAW1200, and it fits Into a Significantly Slimmer package.

How Much Is The smaller Compared To The PAW1300 PAW1200? The PAW1200, Weighing in at 83 grams, IS 64mm long, 48.9mm wide, and 14.4mm thick. The PAW1300 Is a comparatively diminutive 60 grams, and 56.9mm long, 47.4mm wide, and only 11.5mm thick. Yes, we’re only talking millimeters here, drank with respect to something as small as a watch, Every millimeter counts. Taken To Have Almost a full thickness 3 mm off the ITB really very significantly.

About the PAW1300: I’ve Been wearing it for about a week now and I really like it. From what i can tell (after re-watching your movie and re-reading your review of the 1200), It Seems To Be Just A smaller version of the 1200. The few “differences are Easy to Spot That Are The Lack of the LCD overlay for the compass. The 1300 Now Has a small ring just inside the solar collector ring Which functions as a second-hand sweep (a small rectangle at the edge moves around the dial to indicate where and seconds). Also this uses the compass ring and Indicates north with Three small rectangles (as well as one rectangle for comme au directions). I think the LCD overlay Would Have Been Easier to see, And Also Would Have Had a more intuitive “compass” feel. Goal I Used to Quickly got this small limitation. The small ring est aussi Used by the barometer to indicate where and gold rising pressure falling.

Other One Is That small difference in the stopwatch and countdown timer mode the now Have the hour counter in the top window (Which Is Not Such a big change if you remember Which mode you’re in (you lose the mode indicators “STW” and ” TMR after about a second and They Are Replaced by a “0H” which if fine UNLESS you confused it with “OH!”). The stopwatch mode Also Moved the one hundredth counter to the top window as well. This is a small and bit harder to see, it’s a goal I gladly sacrifice a new serie Made a smaller watch.

I live in RTP, NC and the radio receiver to pick up Seems the Colorado Springs Atomic Clock Without “any disorder about 90% of the time (Usually on first try at 12:05 am). In the past couple of weeks, It Has missed only syncing fewer spectators and That Is Most Likely due to my Placing it near Some electronic equipment overnight. Very difficulty I found it to sync the watch “during the daytime and if you ever listen to shortwave radio you Will Understand The Reasons for this: it’s Almost Always cutting easier to pick up a weak shortwave signal at night. Casio Probably knows this and then this is why the watch IS programmed to Attempt syncing at 12:00 am and for the next four hours are the hour.

* The PAW1300 Has additional markers Outside the outer ring LCD Which are Used with Both the compass and the barometer. Highly reflective and ltr Almost sparkle when the light hits em right.
* The buttons on the PAW1300 are squared off as opposed to the rounded buttons of the PAW1200. The flat surface Allows the labels (fashion, accounting, barometer, and altitude) to Be Directly printed Rather Than On The buttons on the case, Which, in turn, allow for a smaller box.
* The PAW1300 Has a smaller band resin ITS Than Predecessor, and Has a single pin buckle Rather Than a double pin.

I Do not Want to Spend a lot of time going over the features of the Pathfinder PAW1300 Since I’ve gone over in detail Them In The review of the PAW1200. Rather, I’d like to defer to Watch Report reader Sat Tannous Who Loved related experiences with the new PAW1300 en this email:

All in all, it’s a great watch. I got the titanium watchband Since I tend to wear out leather and rubber watchbands Fairly quickly. It’s a bit more expensive Then comme au bands (I Paid $ 239) intended I think it Will Be worth it.

Thanks, Sam I Could Have Said it better myself. All I Have to add is:

There Are Things I Like about the Over The PAW1200 1300 and yew I Had Enough real estate on my wrist to Accommodate it, I’d go with the PAW1200 Probably. Being That I am cursed with a watch lover Relatively narrow wrist, howeve, I find the PAW1300 To Be A Much Better Without “any compromise made in Functionality.

    Amazon Verified Purchase(What’s this?)
This review is from: Casio Men’s PAW1300-3V Pathfinder Multi-Band Solar Atomic Green Watch (Watch)

I have owned two Casio G-shock watches over a span exceeding a decade. I always liked the G-shock, but alas the viewing light recently stopped working and it was time to try something with a few more features. After quite a bit of searching I settled on the Pathfinder (model PAW 1300 - 3v) and I believe I made the correct personal choice.

Before actually receiving the watch from Amazon I was definitely concerned about the overall size of this watch. From my research I was half afraid I would end up with a geeky watch the size of a dinner plate on my wrist. Moreover, I don’t have a big wrist to begin with so this was a real concern. I was pleasantly surprised that although slightly larger in circumference than a standard watch, this watch was not nearly as large as I had imagined. In fact, the difference between this model (1300) and the previous model (1200) is the size. The 1200 is nearly identical in features but is quite a bit thicker than the newer 1300 model. This Pathfinder sits nicely on my wrist and does not look unusual.

Practically speaking, this watch has a lot of nice features that I like, such as the compass, the automatic display light, atomic synchronization, and the solar power to note a few. While I would easily purchase this watch again, I might consider the model with the metal band. I say this because somehow with the price of this watch I was expecting it to have a bit more panache to it, if that makes any sense. This watch is fairly light weight and somehow looks characteristically similar to a lot of other pedestrian plastic-band watches out there. That may be fine for people who want just a plainish looking watch, but somehow the metal band version might look a bit nicer, although perhaps not as ruggedly practical.

I haven’t had this watch long enough to judge its overall durability, but if my former G-shock watches are any indication, this Pathfinder should hold up just fine.
