When I saw the cool red color of this watch i had to buy it…everyone should have at least one watch that is unique and stands out from the dreary black/white world of normal everyday watches…these G-Shock Casios (I have a few) are so rugged, extremely well built and reliable they will probably outlive us all. The only reason this gets 4 stars from me instead of 5 is that the initial set up is somewhat complicated and time consuming…whatever you do, DO NOT LOSE THE OWNER’S MANUAL!…you will need it!
I remember receiving my first Casio watch as a birthday present years ago and although the band on it eventually broke, it survived the toughest of abuse. My first Casio wasn’t even a G Shock.
I got this G-Shock Rescue Red watch for Christmas this year and I love the way the red looks. It’s eye catching and simply looks tough. It comes with a low-temp LCD in case you wander into much colder environments, electroluminescent display (with auto on feature when tilted), stop watch, countdown timer, tidal, lunar and date tracking. I don’t have much use for the tidal/lunar functions, but it’s nice to have them. This watch, like my first Casio, has a mute feature that lets you turn off the beeping when going from menu to menu. I never understood why this is important until I took the LSATs, where no beeping mechanisms/electronics are allowed.
As for the amount of abuse this watch can take, it’s still too early for me to tell, but I’m pretty sure it’ll survive almost anything.
